Our story begins long before coaching, business, or leadership it begins with family, faith, and hard lessons.
My parents migrated from Guatemala and Mexico at just 16 years old. They married young, and had three children by the age of 21. For a season, ten of us lived in a one-bedroom apartment. We weren't rich , but we were rich in love.
My mom would stay up late at night to make sure cockroaches didn’t crawl into our ears while we slept.
When I was seven years old, everything changed.
I came home one night and found my parents sitting at the kitchen table, my mom on one side with my brother and sister. They asked me to choose between staying with my dad or living with them. I chose to stay with him. I didn’t want him to be alone.
That night, as we drove to a hotel, I watched my father cry and apologize for his mistakes. And as a little boy, I asked myself a question that would shape my life:
Why does it take hitting rock bottom before we decide to change?
